2012 Backyard Teams
|Show that you’re king of the grill with Backyard BBQ Cook-off! Our competition has two meat categories (ribs, and chicken, ).
Hometown competition entry fee – $50 (includes campsite and registration for up to four team members plus Pit Master. Electricity and water hook-ups are not included.)

The cost for additional Backyard team members is $5/person. The competition will follow KCBS Rules and Regulations in two categories: ribs and chicken. Electric and water hookups are not available in the Backyard category. You may fill your water tanks from an onsite spigot. Dump Station is available at departure. Cooking sites are assigned based on need and availability upon arrival. We do our best to accommodate space requests; however, we do not guarantee. Ice will be delivered to campsites throughout the weekend for a small fee. Cash is required and small bills are appreciated. Any Backyard team sharing a cooking site with a professional team will be subject to random inspections by independent KCBS personnel. Each team must have their own cooker. If a Backyard team is named Grand Champion twice, they are required to move into the Professional category to participate in subsequent competitions.
Teams will be allowed to start setting up on Friday June 22nd at 8:00am. Meat will be inspected on Friday from 8am to 5:00pm. Cooks meeting is at 6:30 pm. The turn in times will be 2:00pm for chicken and 2:30pm for ribs on Saturday. All teams must be onsite and set up by 8 am 23 June 2012. All teams must have some type of cover over contest area. Cook site must have a fire extinguisher.
